Providing a harder distortion effect, the DS-1 faithfully reproduces all the subtle nuances of playing dynamics, at any volume.
Its hard-edged attack, smooth sustain, and distinctive tone have made it a staple piece in guitarists’ pedal boards for decades and is behind the signature sounds of a long list of guitar icons including the likes of Joe Satriani, Kurt Cobain, and John Frusciante.
With the launch of the DS-1W, this legendary stomp joins other BOSS classics in the Waza Craft series.
Waza Craft is a BOSS division of highly skilled designers and engineers that aims to make custom modifications to classic guitar effects.
This special edition pedal fuses the look and character of the original, with new all-analog circuitry to provide expanded range and versatility.
The DS-1W expands the DS-1 experience with two modes for a broader range of styles and applications.
Standard Mode delivers the authentic sound of the original pedal – its two-stage gain circuit is a critical part of the fullness that so many guitarists love about the DS-1.
The tone controls are very versatile, and can affect both low and high frequencies, simultaneously boosting and cutting each end of the frequency spectrum as they’re turned – allowing for precise application.
Custom mode presents a new distortion voice, while still retaining the personality and edge of the DS-1.
A more mid-focused sound provides more fatness and cut to make your sound stand out in the mix, and the tone control allows for the mode’s richness and presence to be maximised.
The available level has been increased by dB, which provides a wider range of gain boost for driving amps and pedals.
The DS-1W Distortion is out now.
