The groundbreaking rhythm guitarist used this Firebird Red iteration in early AC/DC performances, and even the film clip for ‘It’s a Long Way to The Top’ before eventually stripping the paint job and making his own mods.

Malcolm and Gretsch have a storied relationship, and this new Signature Jet pays tribute to his 1963 model and was designed with his nephew Stevie Young.

To recreate Young’s earliest days with ‘The Beast’, the model comes equipped with TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity Filter’Tron bridge and neck pickups, to recreate that vintage Gretsch voice, along with an added TV Jones Starwood humbucker in the middle for clear tone with an added punch.

The Signature Jet features a 12”-radius bound ebony fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets (plus zero fret) and a harmonic style Adjusto-Matic bridge with a pinned ebony base, ‘60s Jet vibrato tailpiece, and Schaller die-cast tuners.

It has a 2”-deep double-cutaway chambered mahogany body with a maple top, and boasts an aged Vintage Firebird Red finish, with a black pickguard and gold hardware.

Gretsch’s Malcolm Young Signature Jet is available now, and retails for $5,699.
