From classic analog compressors to perfectly created modern reverb units, the FX Collection for Arturia was already a great bundle for record producers, mix and mastering engineers. Now with the new addition of Bus FX, Modulation FX and some other handy tweaks, the second version of this plugin suite can do it all. Now, let’s dive into the specifics of what makes the FX Collection 2 stand out as a production suite.

Bus FX

FX Collection 2 adds three bus effects to its arsenal of mixing tools. First up is Comp DIODE-609, Arturia’s model of the classic Neve 33609/C. For those unfamiliar, this compressor/limiter combo is fantastic for drum bus compression, bringing out a crunchy and distinctive sound.

Next, there’s the EQ SITRAL-295 which is modelled after ’70s German broadcast consoles. With a wide range of uses, this EQ provides a smooth musical sound with a touch of vintage feel. Arturia have kindly added a switchable visualiser so users can easily see the changes they’re making to the audio spectrum.

Last up, is the Arturia designed Bus Force. Combining elements from multiple different sources, theres a SEM inspired filter, Pultec style EQ, saturation and distortion module and a compressor with its unique Force control. This bus compressor is prefect fo popping on the master channel to get your track release ready or add to individual channels to utilise the saturation/filter/EQ combo.

Modulation FX

Of the seven new plugins, four of these are modulation effects, adding yet another layer of versatility to this bundle. There’s two chorus effects on offer here, first up the Chorus JUN-6, an emulation of the classic Roland Juno-60 chorus effect, which is an incredibly simple way to add stereo width and analog warmth to synth tracks and more. Chorus DIMENSION-D, modelled after another Roland effect unit of the same name, is simple in operation but professional in providing a smooth stereo chorus effect.

The other two plugins are the Phaser BI-TRON and Flanger BL-20. The BI-TRON, based on a guitar pedal, features two sweep generators, dual 12-stage phaser circuits and vast routing options that will help you unlock your inner space exploration fantasies. Finally, the Flanger BL-20 allows you to create the wildest sounds with it’s multiple modulation sources including a function generator. This feature allows you to draw in breakpoints and wave shapes to tweak the flanger sound to your hearts content.

Redesigns and other new features

Along with these fantastic new additions, Arturia have added other features and tweaked some old ones.

First off, the Delay TAPE-201 now has multiple pre-amp options. You can use the original modelled one from the RE-201 unit, a newly modelled Germanium preamp or neither if you’re not looking for that crunchy sound character.

Arturia’s preset browser gets an upgrade with the SDK GUI update which allows for more intuitive preset browsing. This along with over 200 new presets on offer, add a wealth of positive user experience.

Speaking of which, all plugins now feature in-app tutorials and tips covering every single parameter and component in detail.

Additonally, all FX Collection 2 products now work with Native Kontrol Standard which is fantastic news for people who use Native Instruments controllers and MIDI keyboards.
