$10,000 up for grabs with UpStart Singer Songwriter Award

Attention up and coming Melbourne based musicians, the Upstart Singer Songwriter award has opened for submissions. The annual competition gives you an opportunity to receive a cool $10,000 by submitting a few songs to their judges panel for consideration.

What you need to know:

  • Entries for the Upstart Singer Songwriter award have opened for emerging Victorian based musicians.
  • This years judges panel includes Angie McMahon, Shane Howard and Suzanne Bennett.
  • The winner will receive $10,000 to go towards furthering their music career and be interviewed on PBS FM.

Upstart are seeking a musician who shows original music creativity to bequeath this years Singer Songwriter award to. The award is funded by a music loving family from Melbourne and is decided by people active in the music industry.

Upstart Singer Songwriter award is open for individuals living in Victoria, who write their own music and have some experience performing. It goes without saying that if you’re signed to a major label or play at big venues, this award isn’t for you.

The award is adjudicated by an independent panel of artists and musicians. This years panel features award winning Melbourne based singer-songwriter Angie McMahon, folk-rock solo artist Shane Howard, venue booker and artist manager Jason Heard and more!

Applications for the Upstart award open on July 17 and close August 31. The winner will be announced and interviewed on “The Breakfast Spread” on PBS FM in Mid-November.
