The first in a new series of artist collaborations lands on the KRONOS.
Robert Glasper spent years playing grand pianos of uneven quality on tour, wishing he had a signature sound he could rely on wherever, whenever. That wish came true for Glasper, with the EXs43 Glasper’s Grand & EP, a KORG KRONOS expansion recorded from his own grand and electric pianos.

The library started with a question Glasper posed to KORG: “Could we capture the sounds of a particular grand piano and electric piano and put them into my KRONOS?” Having a personal sound he could trust in any venue was the goal from the outset.
Doing so took ten days of recording at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, now Chaplin Recording Studios, followed by more than a year of editing and fine-tuning. Glasper and the KORG development team then put the sounds through a six-month world tour before signing off on the release.
Inside EXs43 you get around 2GB of grand piano samples, two SGX-2 piano types in Glasper German D and Glasper German D Equal Temperament, and 16 Programs split across seven grand piano and nine electric piano sounds. KORG is billing it as the first in a series of collaborations that move an artist’s own instruments into the KRONOS.
Landing alongside the library is KRONOS System Updater v3.2.3. The update adds a new Tine EP VIII model to the EP-1 electric piano engine, and is the same model Glasper leant on for the electric piano side of EXs43. Running the new library needs System Version 3.2.3 or later, so the update is worth grabbing first.
