RØDE brings Direct Connect Bluetooth® pairing to Wireless GO Gen 3 and Wireless PRO

The Sydney-based audio company has rolled out a free firmware update that lets creators connect directly to iOS devices without a physical receiver, eliminating extra hardware from mobile setups.

RØDE has handed creators a useful free upgrade, extending its Direct Connect Bluetooth® pairing capability to the Wireless GO Gen 3 and Wireless PRO. Now both systems can connect directly to iPhones via Bluetooth through the RØDE Capture app, without the need for a physical receiver.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

Direct Connect was first introduced with the Wireless Micro, where it drew an overwhelmingly positive response from creators who appreciated the cleaner, faster mobile setups it enabled. Bringing the same capability to two of RØDE’s most popular wireless systems is particularly handy for run-and-gun filmmakers, content creators and journalists who want broadcast-quality audio without managing extra hardware.

Through the RØDE Capture app, both systems support merged and split recording modes. Merged mode combines audio from both transmitters into a single stereo track ready for publishing, and split mode records each transmitter to a separate channel for greater flexibility in post-production. In-app output gain control allows recording levels to be adjusted on the fly for consistently balanced results.

The Wireless GO Gen 3 builds on the already capable platform with 32-bit float on-board recording, intelligent GainAssist for consistent levels, 32GB internal storage and RØDE’s Series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission. Now available at a 33% price drop, it remains the grab-and-go solution the Wireless GO range has always been known for. Direct Connect simply removes one more cable from the equation.

Wireless PRO extends the formula further for filmmakers and professional creators demanding maximum capability in a compact form. Beyond the Wireless GO Gen 3’s feature set, Wireless PRO adds 32-bit float on-board recording, timecode sync for streamlined audio alignment in post-production, and an impressive 260-metre line-of-sight range – all now accessible at a 25% reduced price. Compatibility with the full RØDE Series IV ecosystem, including RØDECaster Pro II, RØDECaster Duo and RØDECaster Video, makes it a natural fit for more demanding productions.

“It’s our duty as pioneers of the ultra-compact wireless microphone category to extend true wireless freedom to as many creators as possible,” said RØDE CEO Damien Wilson.

Direct Connect is available now via a free firmware update through the RØDE Capture app. Both systems ship worldwide.
