First teased by Ford back in the summer of 2021, this limited edition has been meticulously spec’d to deliver the highest level of playability and tone.
“As a guitarist, everything is important. All the details have an impact,” Ford said. “The willingness of Paul and everyone at PRS to dig deep and refine based on my feedback as an artist has been priceless.”
The guitar features a bound 22-fret, 25” scale length pattern mahogany neck, with an African blackwood fretboard.
It’s anchored by the vintage-style tuners, and a PRS Stoptail bridge with brass inserts – both adding to the overall tone and liveliness of the guitar.
Perhaps the most noteworthy feature though are the Robben Ford signature pickups – meticulously dialled in by Ford and Paul Reed Smith himself.
Tuned to deliver loud, clear and full tone across the spectrum, they’re paired with a single volume and tone control, a three-way switch, and a single mini-toggle switch that split both pickups into single coils.
Limited to just 200 pieces worldwide, you won’t want to miss out on the PRS Robben Ford Limited Edition McCarty.
PRS has also unleashed the SE A20E and the SE P50E, two new acoustic models.
The A20E brings an all-mahogany focus midrange and warmth to PRS’ most popular acoustic body shape – the Angelus Cutaway.
It delivers comfort and playability that is tailored to both picking and fingerstyle play.
The PRS SE P50E is a parlour-sized acoustic, and features a solid spruce top, with figured maple back and sides that bring a new aesthetic to an already popular parlour platform.
This body type offers a more focused tone, and bold projection, while the maple back and sides provide additional warmth and tonal transparency.
Both of PRS’ new acoustics feature their distinctive bracing pattern, which is modelled after a speaker cabinet and creates a single-diaphragm instrument.
The PRS hybrid “X”/Classical top bracing allows the top of the guitar to freely vibrate, while the back and sides are more heavily braced and locked down, encouraging the tone of the guitar to push through the top.
They also feature the PRS-Voiced Fisherman Sonite Pickup system which allows for a natural sound.
Both have an under saddle pickup and sound hole mounted preamp, and ship with high quality gig bags.
