Get your gig fix this summer.
It’s been a hot minute, but it looks like live music is returning with a vengeance in Australia this summer, with local alt-rockers Hands Like Houses today announcing a run of East Coast shows for this January.
Dubbed the Reflect tour, the COVID-safe shows will see Hands Like Houses trek to a variety of locations up the East Coast, including shows in Sydney, Byron Bay, Sunshine Coast and Coolangatta before returning for a huge hometown show in Canberra.
The Reflect tour will cap off what’s been a tremendous year for the ACT outfit, who released an immense self-titled EP, appeared on Triple J’s Like A Version, and even scored a few TV syncs to coincide with finals footy.
In a statement accompanying the tour announcement today, Hands Like Houses’ frontman Trenton Woodley placed an emphasis on the pensive nature of the tour, declaring it a time to look back on the year that’s been and embrace the new norm of socially distanced shows.
“The ‘Reflect’ Tour is a chance to slow down, take a breath and reflect on the challenges this year has presented, using that experience to inform a new take on the music it’s produced, the opportunities it’s given and the things that we’ve missed the most,” he said.
“These COVID-safe shows are our first real opportunity to return to live music in a way that doesn’t reject the ‘new normal’ but embraces it wholly, with a reimagined set and a uniquely intimate HLH experience.”
