In collaboration with the great man himself, the rig has been put together to mimic May’s iconic homemade Red Special guitar, built out of salvaged wood from his fireplace and springs from a motorbike.
The BM 30 amplifier is based on the classic triple VOX® AC30™ setup to match Brian May’s figuration, while the BM DK amp is synonymous with Queen’s sounds after John Deacon first configured the little box. Meanwhile, the Red Special, Treble Booster, May Way, FOX Phaser and Star Gate stompboxes offer an array of distinct sounds through which users can experiment.
The Brian May model follows previous IK Multimedia Amplitube collections with Jimi Hendrix, Slash, Dimebag Darrell CFH and more already featuring in the virtual shop window.
Described as a “virtual gear collection”, the AmpliTube Custom Shop is a free software package, with 24 pieces of gear available that allows for users to create their own custom guitar and bass rigs. In the app, an online virtual music store allows the purchase of further rig additions, including instruments, tuners, pedalboards, aplifiers and more. As such, the ApliTube database can act as a library of instruments and sounds that users can use to create their own music.
For more information on the Brian May AmpliTube custom rig head to the IK Multimedia Website, where you can hear official Queen production ‘We Will Rock You’ guitarist Jamie Humphries dish out on the collection.
IK Multimedia is distributed in Australia through Sound & Music.
