Joining him in his band will be Brazillian bassist Bjorn Englen and drummer Aquiles Priester, who played on MacAlpine’s latest album, Concrete Gardens.
This tour is in celebration of MacAlpine’s two greatest albums, Edge of Insanity and Maximum Security, from 1986 and 1987 respectively.
His debut album Edge of Insanity was listed at number four in Guitar World Magazine’s Top 10 Guitar Shred Records of All Time.
MacAlpine playing has been cited by many as a major influence, and his prolific output has been laced with innovation, using his jazz roots to transform the prog-rock genre.
His versatility is on show in his discography, having released music with a jazz-fusion band, a prog-rock band, and many other projects, as well as playing as a studio musician on many albums.
For guitar fans this will not be one to miss, Tony MacAlpine is one of the greats.
