NAMM 2020: Meet the new Fender Parallel Universe range

First up, there’s the very Guild-esque Maverick Dorado. Inspired by a very kooky model from the 1960s, this new Parallel Universe Maverick Dorado does away with the Electric XII-invoking aspects of the original, adding in FIlter’Tron humbuckers, a Bigsby B50 vibrato and an ebony fretboard. It also comes in a range of three colours, including Ultraburst, Mystic Pine Green and the always cool Firemist Gold. We’re pretty excited about this one.

There’s also the new Spark-O-Matic Jazzmaster, which is a bit of a weird one, although it’s got a pretty sweet ash/mahogany/ash three-piece body. It’s loaded with Seymour Duncan SM-1N and SM-3B mini humbuckers, simialr to those in a Gibson Firebird, and features a five-way selector switch and an American Pro Jazzmaster bridge with Classic Gear tuners.

Let’s keep going with the jazzy theme: here’s the Strat Jazz Deluxe. As the name implies, this one features all the hardware and electronics you’d expect to find on a Stratocaster and whacks them straight onto an offset Jazzmaster body. It’s also got an awesome flame maple top and a rosewood neck, with a Pro Strat bridge,  Texas Special pickups and a lovely Transparent Seafoam Green finish rounding out the package.

The Jazz Strat does the exact same thing as the Strat Jazz Deluxe, but in inverse, slapping the electronics and hardware of a Jazzmaster onto a Stratocaster body, minus that famously annoying switching system. Loaded with Pure Vintage ’65 Jazzmaster pickups and featuring aluminum control knobs, the Jazz Strat also boasts a rather lavish Decoboom Streamline Pinstriped pickguard, as well as a cool matching sparkled headstock.

Ready to go to Tele town? Check out the thinline Mágico Telecaster, which was designed in conjunction with Fender Custom Shop’s Ron Thorn. It’s speckled head to toe in pearloid, and features an ash body with a flame maple neck to deliver a killer tone and feel. The Mágico is also fitted with two custom Fender Gold Foil pickups and a three-saddle Telecaster bridge for a little classic touch.

There’s also two new Troublemaker Deluxe Telecasters: one Black model with triple humbuckers and a Bigsby tremolo, and one White Blonde model with dual humbuckers. These Troublemaker Telecasters feature mahogany bodies, block fretboard inlays and matching headstocks, and offer the perfect middle ground between the big F and the big G.

Finally, we’ve got the Uptown Stratocaster; another Gibson/Fender hybrid with dual humbuckers and four pots for tone and volume – you can also coil tap these to achieve those classic Strat sounds if you should please. It features a two-point synchronised tremolo and block fretboard inlays, as well as a mahogany body and neck for a darker sound with plenty of sustain.
