The Italian audio firm have released an updated version of the iRig Pro DUO I/O, a super compact recording interface which is comaptible with iOS, Android, Mac and Windows. While maintaining similar overall specs – the two preamps, MIDI compatibility and bus/AA battery power of the original unit remain here – this new DUO I/O features a new rubberized coating to ensure it sits flush on a surface without being jiggled around too easily.
There’s also level indicators for volume, new and improved preamps with more gain on tap, as well as USB-C connectivity and improved drivers for Surface tablets and Windows laptops. All in all, it’s an incredibly versatile and super portable solution for recording ideas on the fly, and would make for a great addition to any mobile studio setup.
IK Multimedia have also utilised the chaos in Anaheim to launch their Joe Satriani AmpliTube app, which can be used as a plugin with your DAW of choice or as a standalone app. This collection includes three amp models as chosen by Satriani’s own fans: the Satch VM, which is modelled on a Marshall JVM410HJS amp/cab setup; the SJ50, which emulates a 1993 Peavey 5150 and cab; and the Boston 100, a fleshed out variant of the ’82 Scholz Rockman with cabinet modelling and a stereo mode.
There’s also five stompbox models on offer, including three different overdrive/distortion boxes, an octave effect and the Satch Wah pedal. Check out the video above to see Satriani putting his signature AmpliTube collection through its paces.
