Gibson's had a pretty good run at NAMM in the last few days, announcing a whole bunch of new signature models and new additions to their electric catalogue. Now, they're turning their eyes toward bolstering their acoustic range, today announcing the opening of their own Acoustic Custom Shop as well as a whole heap of new models for 2020.
Established at the company's acoustic base in Bozeman, Montana, the Gibson Acoustic Custom Shop aims to create meticulous reproductions of some of their finest vintage models, as well as a few modern offerings. These include the coveted 1960 Hummingbird, 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo, 1957 SJ 200, 1939 J-55, 1942 Banner J-45 and more, reflecting the company's rich heritage in shaping the sound of rock, country, blues and folk music in the 20th century.
Some of the Gibson Acoustic Custom Shop's more modern models can be seen below.
Meanwhile, the brand are also overhauling their regular acoustic range, grouping different models into the Modern and Originals series depending on its specs and design. It's a move we've seen them pull with yesterday's electric announcement, and also corresponds to their Acoustic Custom Shop division. Check out what to expect from these guitars below.
