NAMM 2020: Fender unleash the Acoustasonic Stratocaster

While the Acoustasonic Stratocaster doesn’t stray too far from the ground its singlecut predecessor laid before it, it’s still another daring attempt from Fender to reinvent what players should expect from a guitar in the 21st century.

The Acoustasonic Stratocaster, which is made in Fender’s California plant, features three separate pickup systems, including a Fishman under-saddle transducer, a Fishman Acoustasonic Enhancer and a Fender Acoustasonic Noiseless magnetic pickup to offer a plethora of tonal possibilities. Whether you’re running the Acoustasonic Stratocaster through a PA, clean solid state amplifier or a driven valve amp, you’ll always be able to snag a fantastic tone, particularly when used in conjunction with that Mod knob to blend all voicings together. Hear how it sounds below.

In the design department, the Acoustasonic Stratocaster features a solid A Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, with a mahogany C-shaped neck delivering a comfortable feel for both electric and acoustic players. There’s also an ebony fretboard with 22 frets, while an intergrated forearm and back contour ensures the Acoustasonic feels as good in use as it sounds.

Finally, the Acoustasonic Stratocaster comes in five radiant finishes: Transparent Sonic Blue, Three Tone Sunburst, Dakota Red, Black and Natural. We reviewed two variants of the Acoustasonic Telecaster last year and thought it was a pretty cool – if not odd – guitar, so we’re very excited to see how the idea translates to one of the most recognisable body shapes of all time. Expect to hear more in the near future.
