This time, we’re getting into what’s now a must-have for any guitarist looking to jam out or record awesome sounding tracks from their bedroom: low-wattage amplifiers.

Key Features: If you’re looking for a solid 30 watt practice amp with plenty of versatility and features to keep you inspired, the Spider V30 MkII is well worth the price of admission. A flexible amplifier with intuitive controls and easy to use effects and features, this combo packs a punch in the bedroom or home studio. Although utilising a small 8″ speaker and tweeter, this setup also includes a Classic Speaker mode which models an array of organic sounds. For acoustic instruments and jam track playbacks, you can also select the Full-Range speaker mode, so straight away, the Spider will give you options for whatever you find yourself needing to do with it.

 

A staggering 200 + selection of amps, cabs and effects will also ensure that you don’t run out of creative inspiration on the job, while the 128 tone presets include a wide variety of classic to modern sounds.

 

There is also an onboard guitar tuner and a digital metronome along with built-in drum loops to get you creating straight away. This amp is compatible with the Line 6 FBV 3 Foot Controller and uses a USB interface with a free Spider V Remote App. Editing and recording platforms include Mac, PC, IOS, and Android devices.

 

Mixdown Says: A bright, easy to use amp package that covers a lot of bases. Whether playing clean, dirty, or several shades in between, the Spider 30 Mk II is an extremely versatile and friendly addition to the home recording or practise studio. The controls work well and are easy to access & use, the speaker modes offer some fine sounds used in conjunction with the amp modelling and tonal presets, and if your sound needs to get big, no problems here.

 

Overall: It’s obvious that compact amps have come a long way, and the Mk II proves this with its user-friendliness, versatility and awesome combinations of sounds, amp models and speaker setups. For its price and style, the Line 6 Spider V 30 MkII would be a welcome addition to anyone’s home studio.
