Mixdown, Australia’s leading music instrument, pro audio equipment and music industry publication, is seeking an experienced audio and/or media sales professional to join its Melbourne/Naarm based team. 

The role will involve driving commercial growth in the pro audio and music instrument sectors, with a focus on advertising and content solutions across Mixdown’s web, print and social platforms. 

Joining a highly skilled and passionate team, the successful candidate will work collaboratively alongside commercial and editorial staff and thrive on the thrill of being immersed in Australia’s pro audio and music instrument sectors. 

A hybrid WFH/office situation is on offer (Mondays and Fridays WFH, Tuesdays to Thursdays in our Brunswick office) along with the opportunity to attend a range of events in Australia’s pro audio calendar. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing web and print advertising and content sales and partnerships.  
  • Achieving revenue targets via multi media solutions spanning content, social and display advertising to wide range of clientele. 
  • Identifying new sales and revenue opportunities.  
  • Maintaining an ongoing roster of new and existing commercial accounts. 
  • Preparing sales collateral and presentations. 
  • Achieving KPIs across a range of areas including meetings, calls, emails and canvassing. 
  • Using data to lead and inform sales prospecting. 
  • Responding to client briefs employing a combination of creativity and data. 
  • Overseeing delivery of complex multi platform campaigns involving web, social and print deliverables. 
  • Reaching sales targets by meeting monthly and quarterly revenue benchmarks. 
  • Maintaining a full pipeline of leads and providing regular forecasting reports. 

As the ideal candidate, you will possess: 

  • A deep level of sales and commercial experience in a B2B environment, ideally in media, music equipment retail and/or wholesale sales.
  • At least 3 years experience in a commercial, sales or partnerships role in the pro audio, music retail/wholesale and/or media industries. 
  • An understanding of the Australian music and pro audio media landscape. 
  • Existing contacts in the Australian music or pro audio industries. 
  • Software proficiency in all of the following: MAC OS, Word/Pages, Powerpoint/Keynote, Google Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • A strong work ethic. 
  • A demonstrable passion for the Australian creative industries especially in music or pro audio. 
  • The demonstrable passion for music and music equipment and the ability to play an instrument at an intermediate or advanced level is highly desirable. 
  • Or, a demonstrable understanding music production including experience working in music production, studio or live music environment.  
  • Your own car and driver’s license.

A base salary commensurate with experience along with an uncapped and generous bonus/incentive scheme, along with phone and car allowance is on offer for the right person.
