Waveform 14 features an integrated AI Assistant that generates MIDI and analyses clips, plus multi-channel support for spatial and surround production.

Tracktion has released Waveform 14, the latest update to its DAW, adding three major features: an LLM-driven AI Assistant built directly into the interface, multi-channel audio routing beyond the previous 2-channel limit, and significantly expanded ARA2 support.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

The AI Assistant sits inside the DAW itself, not as a subscription tool. The AI Assistant sits inside the DAW itself, not as a subscription tool. It fields functionality questions pulled from the manual, generates MIDI sequences, and analyses clips to suggest complementary parts. Rather than relying on a monthly subscription, it works with your preferred LLM model on a per-use basis — you only pay for what you actually generate.

The interface has been rebuilt from the ground up. The lower properties panel is gone in favour of new clip detail editors, which means less navigation to edit automation, effects, or other clip parameters. A revised colour scheme, updated typography, 18 user-definable colours, and refined iconography make the workspace faster to read and easier to customise to your setup.

Multi-channel routing opens possibilities for surround and spatial audio work. You can now configure dedicated input and output device busses, record or import multi-channel audio files, and route complex arrangements through a dedicated mix bus with full plugin support.

The developers have expanded ARA2 support across real-world production scenarios. Any ARA-compatible plugin can now function as a time-stretch mode. Global and chord track information passes directly to ARA plugins, and clip looping, copying, and pasting work correctly throughout your arrangements — essential for detailed editing and arrangement work.

Additional improvements include simplified project management with no legacy file format, DAWproject import and export for collaboration across other DAWs, the plugin instance limit raised to 25, improved international language support, and enhanced project archiving for better organisation and portability.

Waveform 14 is available now here. The Pro bundle includes BioTek 3 synthesis plugin.
