Nineteen acts feature in the first lineup announcement, including three-time Grammy-winner Angelique Kidjo, who will perform her reimagining of Talking Heads’ Remain In Light for the first time in Australia.
Also set for a debut Australian performance is Texan trio Khruangbin, joining the likes of John Butler Trio, Tkay Maidza, and South African group BCUC (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness) on the stellar 2019 lineup.
“With the combination of the fearless work of artists like Angelique Kidjo, John Butler, the wonderful voices of the Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir, and Taiwu Ancient Ballads Troupe, alongside a powerful new generation of musicians, WOMADelaide 2019 is certain to be a unique and memorable sonic journey around the world,” said WOMADelaide Director Ian Scobie.
