The album, Kannon, will be released in December and is their first release under the Sunn O))) name since 2009’s Monoliths & Dimensions.
However impressive their back catalogue of recordings is, the band are primarily a live act, with their performances transcending genre and form.
The live show is an experience in itself, which includes the songs being played at excessive volumes and incredibly slow tempos, a room completely fogged and the band playing in robes that resemble those of a monk.
Their sound has been described as “the sounds of the big bang and the end of the universe all at once” and fits in somewhere between “meditation and punishment.”
