ROBERT FORSTER ANNOUNCES TOUR

The tour will see Forster and his band play shows along the east coast, in support of his new album Songs To Play. The announcement was accompanied by the release of the first single and video off the album, ‘Let Me Imagine You’.

Recording of the album took place in an analogue studio, on a Queensland mountain top, where Forster was accompanied by some of Brisbane’s brightest young talent, including Scott Bromley and Luke McDonald from The John Steel Singers, Matt Piele and Karin Baumler.

The album follows 2008’s The Evangelist, which was widely regarded as Forster’s best solo work, and features a spirit of adventure and fun. This will be a departure from the ‘meditative reflections’ of its predecessor, which was recorded a year after the death of Go-Betweens co-founder Grant McLennan.

“I had originally envisaged the gap between my last album and my new one as five years,” Forster says. “I wanted time to pass, for there to be a cut-off. I knew what happened next would be the start of something new.”

In between albums, Forster has produced records, written as a music critic, had his writings published as “The Ten Rules of Rock and Roll”, and curated the first of three Go-Betweens box sets.
