The tasty December tour will mix a scoop of Courtney Barnett, a dash of Kate Miller-Heidke and two spoonfuls of Marlon Williams into Paul Kelly’s famous recipe, while Sydney show-goers will be further treated to a side of Thelma Plum.
The tour will cap off a busy year for Kelly, who has a greatest hits record and a book on the way, not to mention the release of a classical album, 13 Ways To Look At Birds, due out later this month.
Upcoming LP Songs From The South is due out on November 15, and will contain Kelly’s greatest hits from 1985-2019, including karaoke killer “Dumb Things” and advertiser’s dream “From Little Things Big Things Grow”, joined by a new single featuring Casey Chambers, “When We’re Both Old and Mad”.
Kelly’s book Love Is Stong As Death, meanwhile, will be released November 18 via publishers Penguin. The Making Gravy dates, which follow on from a regional tour in November, round out quite a prolific year from the Australian icon, begging the question: when can we expect the Paul Kelly video game? … anyone?
