The seminal Manchester group, who were last in the country for Vivid Live in 2016, will be returning for two special dates in Autumn, including one huge outdoor show at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl and one at the Hodern Pavilion in Sydney. They’ll be supported by Confidence Man at both shows, with Cut Copy also jumping in on the fun for the Melbourne show.
Formed after the passing of singer Ian Curtis, New Order saw Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and new member Gillian Gilbert expand on Joy Division’s angular post-punk sound by incorporating electronic programming and sequencing, and are deemed pivotal within both the canons of rock and electronica. Their 1980s output, featuring ‘Blue Monday’, ‘Leave Me Alone’, ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’ and ‘Age Of Consent’ established them as one of the most influential bands of the era, and to this day, ‘Blue Monday’ is regarded as one of the best dance tracks ever made.
