The kooky group, who were last in the country for Gizzfest and Meredith Music Festival in late 2017, are set to jet around Australia for a run of headline dates in Sydney and Melbourne. They’ve also got appearances locked in at WOMADelaide, Nine Lives Festival in Brisbane and Tasmania’s A Festival Called Panama.
Originating as a busking band on the streets of Tokyo in 2012, Kikagaku Moyo have expanded their parameters to cover a wide range of psychedelic styles, incorporating elements of Krautrock, Indian music and traditional folk into their sound. Last year’s Masana Temples saw the group trek to Lisbon to record with renowned jazz hound Bruno Pernadas, creating the term Masana to convey their Utopian notions when playing and living together.
