It wasn’t long ago, in fact earlier this year that they were selling out shows at the Sydney Opera House. Now they are winding up for headline sets in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Sydney and Brisbane.
The new nine-track LP was recorded at the band’s BAYS studio in Kilbirnie, Wellington, and plays on the genre-shifting chemistry the band has become renowned for; reggae progresses into jazzy cuts, infused with techno rhythms and grounded by Freddy’s signature horns and Joe Dukie’s warm vocal presence.
Fat Freddy’s Drop continue to rise internationally, with Blackbird selling over 175, 000 album copies worldwide, and the group recently selling out the 10,000 capacity Alexandra Palace in London. They return to Australia as a big ticket item.
