For this episode, Thrice performs from their own studio, New Grass, that they built out a few years ago in bringing a unique authenticity and emotional depth to the series.

Thrice

In this episode, Thrice delivers a powerful set featuring:

  • “Summer Set Fire to the Rain” from their 2021 album, Horizons/East
  • The fan-favourite “Silhouette” from 2003’s The Artist in the Ambulance
  • A haunting rendition of The Beatles’ classic “I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” a cover the band originally recorded for a 2013 split with current tour mates Manchester Orchestra
  • “We chose a mix of old, new, and unexpected tracks for this session,” says the band. “It felt like a great balance for us, and bringing back the Beatles cover was a fun way to nod to our past.”

Fans will appreciate the attention to detail in Thrice’s gear and instrument setup, tuning techniques, and the creative process behind the songs.

Vocalist and guitarist Dustin Kensrue highlights his signature Music Man Stingray guitar, through which he runs a dynamic stereo signal chain. Guitarist Teppei Teranishi notes that his custom-built guitars and ever-evolving signal chain were tailored specifically to this performance. Additionally, bassist Eddie Breckenridge and drummer Riley Breckenridge deliver their signature rhythmic force, seamlessly blending decades of material into a performance that underscores Thrice’s sonic evolution.

Throughout their career, Thrice has continually pushed the boundaries of their sound. “At the core, it’s still the same process—just the four of us writing music we’re excited about,” they say. This excitement is on full display in BIG SOUND, where the band’s tight-knit chemistry and rich history shine through.
