The SSL 1 is Solid State Logic's most accessible interface yet – a compact two-channel USB-C unit built for musicians, producers and content creators who want SSL quality on the move.
Portable interfaces with studio pedigree are rare.
At this end of the market, the specs are hard to argue with. A 32-bit/192kHz converter sits alongside an SSL-designed microphone preamp with the brand’s Legacy 4K analogue enhancement – a circuit originally developed for SSL’s high-end console work. Channel 1 handles XLR input with +48V phantom power for condenser microphones, while Channel 2 takes instrument or line-level signals directly, covering guitars, synths, drum machines and anything else you’d want to record without a DI box.

A high-current headphone output and balanced monitor outputs handle playback, and a Mix button lets you blend low-latency input monitoring with computer playback without diving into software settings. The DC-coupled outputs are also CV-compatible, which is a useful touch for anyone with modular gear in the setup.
Portability is clearly a priority for the SSL 1, running on USB bus power or via an external 5V source a phone charger or power bank). This makes it a practical option for mobile recording without draining a connected device’s battery. It works with Mac, Windows and any mobile device supporting USB Audio Class 2.0, so connecting to a phone or tablet is straightforward.
Three stereo loopback channels make it well suited for live streaming and content creation, capturing device audio without the need for additional routing tools.
The SSL 1 ships with the SSL Production Pack, a software bundle that includes tools from Harrison Audio, Slate Digital, Antares, Native Instruments, IK Multimedia, Ableton and others. SSL Drumstrip, VocalStrip 2 and a Complete Access trial covering plugins from SSL, Slate Digital and Harrison are also included.
