The update brings flexible panel layouts, crate organisation tools, and streaming integration following feedback from the public beta.

Serato has officially released DJ 4.0, a major library update shaped by community feedback during its public beta period. The new version focuses on organisational tools, improved search functionality, and a more intuitive user experience, addressing some of the most common requests from DJs.

The headline addition is Spotify integration, allowing Premium subscribers to access and mix millions of tracks directly within Serato DJ 4.0. Streaming tracks can now be added to Serato DJ crates, eliminating the need to jump between crates and playlists when prepping sets.

Here’s what you can expect from the major update:

Organisation and navigation:

  • Customise crates with colours from a right-click palette
  • Arrange crates alphabetically, by date created, or custom order
  • Quickly navigate your crate list with search
  • Pin most-used crates to the top for quick access
  • See track count, total time, and size at a glance
  • Right-click any track to see which crates contain it

Library improvements:

  • Rate songs and customise the column with emojis
  • Search your entire library without changing crates
  • Display Prepare, History, and Browse panels horizontally or vertically
  • Adjust album art column size to suit your preference
  • Quick access to both new and familiar actions via right-click menu

Performance features:

  • Add release time when using Slip for more creative scratching (not in Lite version)
  • Automatically analyse BPM, key, and more when adding tracks
  • Analyse tracks without unplugging your gear
  • Safely eject drives from within the interface

The update was previewed at Playlist Retreat, a workshop hosted at DJ Jazzy Jeff’s home in Delaware. Two-time Grammy-nominated producer Scram Jones praised the crate organisation improvements, while DJ Quinnette appreciated the enhanced search functionality.
