Paul Reed Smith Guitars are celebrating four decades in the game with the release of the 40th Anniversary Custom 24 Satin Limited Edition, a fresh spin on the company’s flagship model, limited to just 500 guitars worldwide.
At first glance, the standout feature of the RPS 40th Anniversary Custom 24 Satin guitars is the figured mango tops, replacing the Custom 24’s traditional maple for a unique, almost quilted aesthetic. Sonically, mango shares much of maple’s tonal character, giving players familiar clarity and punch, but with a striking new visual identity. The satin nitro finish leans into a more natural, open vibe, enhancing resonance while giving the guitar a sleek, played-in feel.
Other appointments continue the nod to PRS history. The ebony fretboard and headstock veneer are adorned with “Old School” bird inlays and a “Pre-Factory” eagle logo, referencing the company’s earliest instruments. Hardware comes in smoked black, while the truss rod cover is etched with “40th Custom” to mark the milestone.

Under the hood, the guitar remains every bit a Custom 24. A mahogany back and neck, 25” scale length, Pattern Thin profile and PRS’s Gen III tremolo system deliver the playability the model is known for. The guitar is powered by a pair of new PRS DMO pickups – spec’d by Paul Reed Smith himself and the PRS New Product Engineering team – designed for a wide-open, vocal quality across the tonal spectrum. Paired with a five-way blade switch, players can expect serious versatility.
Available in finishes including Cobalt Smokeburst, Fire Smokeburst, Charcoal, Faded Whale Blue and more, each guitar ships with a PRS ATA multi-fit molded case and a hand-signed 40th Anniversary certificate.
