Roland and Puma team up for 808-inspired sneakers

Following on from their Roland-inspired reboot of the Running System RS-0 earlier in the year, the Puma RS-100 acts as a tribute to the most revered drum machine of the ’80s, taking cues from the colourful design of the 808 and stacking them onto a modern sneaker silhouette. While Puma claims that the RS-0 was a “cool nod to the past in a very futuristic way,” the RS-100 is said to “retain a more retro look but decked in modern materials,” and features appointments such as white-red pebble leather, black ripstop nylon panels and yellow suede edges, as well as a side graphic inspired by the front text of the TR-808.

While Puma and Roland have stated that these shoes are in fact not functional reproductions of the classic drum machine, we’re just excited that these two companies have teamed up to make kicks for a drum machine with such an iconic sound. What’s even better is that Puma plans to release the shoes on August 8 – which is recognised internationally as 808 day. What an age to live in.
