Two independent product lines, each capable on their own, designed to work together as a scalable live rig.
HK Audio has announced two new product families, launching simultaneously: the LUNAR loudspeaker series and the PORTABLE SUB range. Developed independently, both lines are precision-matched, with the idea that they perform well on their own but hit differently as a combined system.
Catch up on all the latest news here.
The LUNAR loudspeakers come in 10″, 12″ and 15″ woofer variants, and can run as full-range speakers, foldback monitors or mid/high units paired with a sub. A 32-bit DSP with FIR filter and phase correction deals with processing, and predefined presets cover common use cases including music, monitor and voice, so setup at a gig doesn’t require digging through menus. Bluetooth True Wireless Stereo connectivity covers the source side.
PORTABLE SUB adds two subwoofer options, with 15″ and 18″ drivers and 1,400W peak power each, hitting a maximum SPL of 131dB. An integrated stereo preamp makes a 2.1 system setup straightforward. Like LUNAR, PORTABLE SUB runs on a preset-based system, with dedicated presets for LUNAR, POLAR MK2 and SONAR, plus a general preset for pairing with other manufacturers’ speakers. That last point is worth noting for engineers already running HK Audio systems: both PORTABLE SUB models are compatible with the existing POLAR MK2 and SONAR ranges, so they slot into a current rig without requiring a full system change.
The pairing of LUNAR and PORTABLE SUB covers everything from a DJ setup to a mid-size live application, scaling to the gig without extra configuration. LUNAR handles full-range reproduction and PORTABLE SUB fills out the low end with matched phase response.
