Esteemed Australian record producer Magoo to sell studio gear

In an interview with Reverb, Magoo discusses his illustrious career as a producer and sound technician, revealing how he got his break as a sound technician for Powderfinger in their early days as well as describing the recording of Regurgitator’s debut LP Tu-Plang.

Throughout the interview, Magoo explains his reasoning for the sale, citing the changing face of the industry and a new career as head of audio at Brisbane’s JMC Academy as his motives for clearing the gear, expressing his slight sadness at the prospect of letting it all go. “There’s an emotional connection to the gear, as with any artform. These are my paint brushes, and they’re my favourite paint brushes.”

While the gear doesn’t go up for sale until Thursday 28 June, you can head on over to Reverb to check out some of the pieces listed, including an Akai S3000XL Sampler, a Smart C2 Compressor, a Boss DM100 Delay Machine, a Neve 1290 and a Roland DC10 Digital Chorus.
