Commissioned and created in cooperation with John Lee Hooker’s estate, the Ltd. Ed. Zephyr Outfit sees Epiphone return to its roots with a traditional hollow body archtop design featuring a maple construction and ivory binding, as well as a mahogany neck and modern-style pau ferro fretboard. For all you era-specific purists, the guitar also features Pearloid split-block fret inlays, a tortoise-shell pickguard and a hard maple skunk stripe on the back of the neck, just to complete the whole vintage aesthetic. The new Zephyr Outfit also includes appointments such as Epiphone’s ProBucker Mini Humbuckers, Wilkinson Deluxe machine heads, a Premium Vintage style hardcase and a unique leather strap.
Throughout his lengthy 60 year career, Hooker used his rare 1961 Epiphone Zephyr extensively, particularly throughout his work in the studio and onstage in the ’60s and early ’70s.
