Inspired by the legendary AKG C414, AKG bill the Lyra as an ‘Ultra HD’ multimode microphone perfect for podcasting, streaming and recording a range of audio sources. The microphone features AKG’s Internal Element Overload Prevention technology and a built-in shockmount and sound diffuser to reduce noise and ensure there’s an optimised signal level for a powerful performance. There’s also four dedicated recording modes – Front, Front & Back, Tight Stereo and Wide Stereo, which make this thing even more versatile.
The four capsules of the Lyra’s adaptive array allow you to achieve a professional sound within any recording environment, while its plug ‘n play connectivity makes it easy to record via your PC, Mac, iOS or Android device – it even comes with a licence for Ableton 10 Lite. The Lyra also features inbuilt headphone monitoring, a desktop stand with an integrated cable management system and can even be mounted like a traditional microphone for further flexibility in the studio.
It’s a pretty big deal for AKG to enter the USB microphone sector, and the Lyra definitely looks like a formidable debut offering. We can’t wait to get our hands on it!
