Polyend Drums packs analogue voices, digital synthesis and a deep sequencer into one hybrid drum machine

Polyend has announced Drums, an 8-track hybrid drum machine combining analogue voices, digital synthesis, sample playback and a deep sequencer — all in a single unit.

Four analogue voices sit at the core of Drums, each built on modern SSI chips. Per voice, you get dual analogue VCOs, a dedicated noise source, a digital oscillator for hybrid layering or FM modulation, a multimode analogue filter and a VCA — enough range to cover tight percussion through to slower, more textural sounds.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

The digital engine adds further synthesis methods, sample-based instruments and eight independent LFOs across all eight tracks. Polyend says there are over 40 instruments on board, each with sub-mode mutations, giving you hundreds of sound options to work from.

The sequencer covers 64 patterns, 64 sound kits and 48 songs, with up to 64 steps per pattern. Per-track tools include parameter locks, probability, micro-timing, pattern chaining, polyrhythms and generative tools — more depth than most drum machines offer at this level.

For live use, the X0Y fader lets you morph between three kit states in real time without stopping playback. Effects are divided into send, insert and master sections, with insert effects sequenceable per track so they become part of the pattern itself.

Connectivity covers eight individual audio outputs, stereo audio input, MIDI over TRS (in, out and thru) and a dedicated headphone output. Internally, Drums runs 32-bit floating-point processing at 96kHz with 24-bit/96kHz DAC and ADC conversion. The chassis is single-piece aluminium with custom metal knobs, available in black or silver.

Polyend Drums is available to reserve now with limited quantities at launch. Head here now.
