Parish Audio has released Gain Knob, a gain and stereo utility plugin that’s free to download for a limited time. Essentially, it’s a volume control you can drop in anywhere to nudge a level up or down, with a few extra tools for keeping stereo, mono and phase in check.

Built for the small signal-flow jobs that come up all through a session, it slots into a plugin chain to trim a track before the next plugin, bring a level back up after an effect has made it quieter or match the loudness of two different chains.
Most of the interface is taken up by a large gain control, flanked by stereo input and output meters, so you can see the level coming in, tweak it and watch the result on the way out. Separate left and right trims add control over stereo material, and the two channels can stay linked for a normal stereo move or run unlinked when the balance between the sides needs correcting on its own.
A Mono control handles quick mono-compatibility checks, showing up any stereo parts that weaken, shift in tone or drop out entirely once the left and right channels are summed. Alongside it, a Phase Invert control flips the polarity of the signal, which is handy for checking how multiple mics, layered takes and parallel processing paths line up when they might otherwise partly cancel each other. For moments when opening a bigger processor or changing settings elsewhere is a hassle, Gain Knob keeps the fix to a single, dependable utility.
