Words by Mixdown

Existing MT 48 owners get two new onboard plugins, scalable Dante plans and live immersive broadcast support.

Neumann has released firmware 2.0 for the MT 48 – a free update that adds third-party plugin support, immersive broadcast encoding and expanded Dante networking to the professional audio interface.

Catch up on all the latest news here.

The MT 48 now supports two plugins previously exclusive to the Anubis platform: Eventide Blackhole Reverb and the Merging+Deesser. Both run in the MT 48’s onboard DSP rather than the DAW, and are available as separate purchases. Dante connectivity now scales from 8×8 up to 64×64, covering everything from project studios to networked broadcast facilities.

Speaking of broadcast, the MT 48 now supports the AMBEO 2 Channels Live Broadcast Encoder, which encodes immersive live content into a 2-channel mix that retains spatial feel on stereo playback at home. LAWO HOME Management Platform support has also been added, broadening the unit’s integration options in professional media environments.

Monitoring additions include speaker and source grouping for faster A/B comparisons, an L/R flip for checking stereo imaging, custom downmix rules and Talkback Dim, which automatically pulls down monitoring levels during talkback. N-1 mixing is now available for broadcast applications. The Advanced Pages interface has also been redesigned with updated visuals and improved navigation.

Firmware 2.0 is available now as a free update. Head here to learn more.
