The new capsule joins the KK 13 and KK 14, and comes with five MCM 115 Instrument Sets for strings, bass, brass, drums and guitar.
Neumann’s Miniature Clip Mic system now has a third capsule. The supercardioid KK 15 is built for loud, busy stages where the existing options can let too much spill or feedback creep in. It’s also available in five new MCM 115 Instrument Sets, which bundle the capsule with everything needed to mount it on a specific instrument.
Until now, MCM users have had a choice between the omnidirectional KK 13 and the cardioid KK 14. The KK 15’s tighter pattern rejects more of what’s happening off to the sides, which means more gain before feedback and better separation between neighbouring instruments, along with a closer, more direct sound than the KK 14 gives.

“Many live sound applications benefit from increased feedback resistance, but this should never come at the expense of sound quality,” says Neumann product manager Jorma Marquardt. “Thanks to its exceptionally uniform supercardioid polar pattern, the KK 15 provides a tight focus, while any remaining spill sounds natural without unwanted coloration.”
Like its siblings, the KK 15 is an electret capsule. Neumann’s layered capsule design gets around the limitations electrets have traditionally been known for, and each capsule is hand-assembled in Germany with the same titanium housing as the KK 13 and KK 14. All three share the same tuning, so an engineer can run omni, cardioid and supercardioid capsules across one stage and have them sound like they belong together. A capsule can also be swapped on an instrument without having to start the EQ from scratch.
Each MCM 115 set is ready for wired use and includes the KK 15 capsule, a gooseneck, a cable, the MCM 100 output stage, an instrument-specific mounting clip and a carrying case. There are five sets: high strings such as violin and viola, double bass, brass and saxophone (with a universal clip that also suits other sources), drums and guitar.
For productions running wireless, the MCM system also connects to Sennheiser’s Spectera platform through Neumann’s updated AC 32 3-pin LEMO cables.
The KK 15 and all five MCM 115 Instrument Sets are available now. Existing MCM owners can buy the capsule on its own to add the supercardioid option to the kit they already have.
