Earning the attention among street crowds all around, Ward had the opportunity to showcase his impressive street busking skills on 2011’s edition of Australia’s Got Talent. The video shows Ward in the audition process in front of a massive crowd, and leaving judges gasping.
Apart from Ward’s inherently talented guitar skills is his beaten up guitar. Looking dilapidated and in dire need for a service, Ward’s guitar is actually custom made. The missing frames from the top have been fitted with electronics, which help Ward bring his live performance even more substance. Ward uses his classical, almost-flamenco finger-picking style to deliver jaw-dropping performances and uses his thumb to attenuate a driven bass melody.
According to Tom Ward’s Facebook page, he has performed all over the world, in Japan, Thailand, Italy, U.K, Germany and even France. Acting as a soloist with symphony orchestras, Ward has had the privilege of sharing the stage with iconic musicians such as Tommy Emmanuel, The Buena Vista Social Club and Jason Mraz.
