Tropical Fuck Storm return with new single ‘Legal Ghost’

A typically TFS track that teeters closer to the edge of chaos with each mangled strum and pounding drum, ‘Legal Ghost’ is the first new music from the group since ‘Suburbiopia’ way back in March.

Despite its recent release, ‘Legal Ghost’ is actually one of TFS frontman Gareth Liddiard’s earliest songs, originally appearing on the Bong Odyssey record from Liddiard and former Drones bandmate Rui Pereria back in the mid-’90s, which the pair reissued earlier this year via TFS Records.

“This is the first song I ever wrote that I thought was a decent song,” Liddiard said in a statement shared today. “Everything before it was just a big tantrum, but this song had a touch of class.

“When I was putting the Bong Odyssey record together again last year, I heard it and thought it was something that could work well with TFS. The original was really cool, but it still sounded more like a sketch of a song and wasn’t quite fully realised, so I took the song to TFS and we fleshed it out a bit.”

‘Legal Ghost’ is also set to receive a 7″ vinyl release later this year, with the B Side consisting of a cover of Talking Heads’ ‘Heaven’, which was even recorded on the same four-track ‘Legal Ghost’ was tracked on more than 20 years ago. The cover also features guest performances from Don Don (Augie March) and H’y (Suss Cu*ts) on pedal steel and violin.
