According to Consequence of Sound, Scott told the heaving crowd to ignore the security and jump up on stage, evidently a request that they were happy to comply with.
The bucket hat wearing security were unable to contain the wave of bodies throwing themselves over the barricades, but as crowd members finally made their way onto the stage, security were called in to escort Scott from it.
Chicago Police have told ABC 7 Chicago that “the performer played one song then began telling the fans to come over the barricades. Due to the secutity’s quick response teh situation remedied immediately and no fans were injured. The performer fled the scene and was taken into custody a short while later.”
Footage of the incident has since flooded social media, and Scott himself has tweeted an interview he did with GQ entitled How to Rage with Travis Scott, in which details his attitude toward people “just standing around.”
Spoiler alert: he’s not that into people just standing around.
