THE JOHN STEEL SINGERS DROP NEW SINGLE

JSS PRESS SHOT WEEKEND LOVERONLINE.jpg

The release of ‘Weekend Lovers’ is the return of the band after their 2013 album Everything’s A Thread and marks a new direction and sound for the Brisbanites.

The single is a slight departure from the fuzzy psychedelic rock of their previous release, and integrates elements of funk and soul, in the form of a thumping bassline and crisp, lively drums.

The forthcoming album, Midnight At The Plutonium, takes its name from The Plutonic, the studio that the band built in Kelvin Grove, Brisbane. As well as The John Steel Singers, the studio has already seen the likes of Cloud Control and Blank Realm pass through it.

If that wasn’t enough for one announcement, the band’s own record label, Plutonium Records, was announced. The label will release the band’s new album in conjunction with Create Control in early 2016.

I’m not entirely sure what plutonium is, but this band seems to have a real affinity for it, and I don’t really mind if they keep pumping out good tunes like ‘Weekend Lover’.
