Rolling Blackouts are, if anything, deeply Australian. Their self-proclaimed inspiration for making music is, quite simply, their Country; what it is, what it was. Their soft-punk sound is an homage to the golden age of Aussie guitar-pop, namely, The Eagles, The Go-Betweens and Men at Work.
‘Tender is the Neck’ certainly does embody the fun energy of 80’s pop, but also harbours emotionally dense and somewhat sentimental subject matter like lost love and the atmosphere of a fleeting Summer.
