Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever announce new LP

The record is slated for release via Ivy League on Friday June 5, acting as the follow up on 2018’s critically acclaimed debut Hope Downs, which saw them support the album on a huge international tour and playing the likes of Coachella, Primavera Sound and Governors Ball. The band discussed how the nature of touring as an Australian act informed the direction of Sideways To New Italy in a statement released today, with singer-songwriter Fran Keaney lamenting “It’s fun but you get to a point where you’re like, Who am I anymore? You feel like you’re everywhere and nowhere at the same time. And no one in particular.”

Bass player Joe Russo added to this sentiment, expressing that: “We saw a lot of the world, which was such a privilege, but it was kind of like looking through the window at other people’s lives, and then also reflecting on our own.”

The announcement of Sideways In New Italy is also backed with the release of a new single, ‘She’s There’, premiered by BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac overnight. It’s the second slice we’ve heard from the new record following February’s ‘Cars In Space’ – listen to it below.
