Prophets Of Rage disband amidst Rage Against The Machine reunion rumours

Over the weekend, the world was rocked with the news that the legendary Rage Against The Machine would be reuniting to play a run of shows next year, including a headline slot at Coachella. However, it seems that with Zack De La Rocha being back in the cut, the time has finally arrived for Prophets Of Rage to call it a day.

The supergroup, which saw Rage Against The Machine’s instrumental section team up with B-Real of Cypress Hill and Chuck D and DJ Lord of Public Enemy, toured heavily from 2016 to 2019, releasing the EP The Party’s Over and their self-titled LP in 2016 and 2017 respectively. While their original compositions were oft-criticized in the media for being pale in comparison to the member’s previous projects, the band received acclaim for their explosive live shows and militant political activism.

In a post to Twitter, Chuck D seemingly confirmed that he and B-Real were ‘keeping Zack De La Rocha’s spot warm for 2020,’ as well as claiming that Prophets Of Rage was always about ‘doing something greater than self.’

B-Real also shared a similar sentiment in a post to Instagram, saying “I want to say thank you to the fans that supported @prophetsofrage for the time we’ve been rocking together. It’s been an honor to rock stages and people of all ages with these guys. It’s been a great time and great memories in a short time. Rockin along side of Chuck and Tom has been amazing to say the least. It was fun while it lasted and I hope we left a big impression and that the music has been a source of inspiration for those that needed it. That was the purpose we got together. So I say to y’all stay informed, stay engaged and fight the good fight.”
