Recorded with her Stranger In The Alps collaborators Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska at Sound City Studios in Calfornia, ‘Garden Song’ stays true to the Phoebe Bridgers forumla – expect hushed guitars, passionate vocals, a pulsing rhythm and an enveloping sense of melancholy. It’s also accompanied by a surreal music video directed by her brother Jackson Bridgers, which sees Bridgers pull a cone and experience a whacky series of events featuring furry monsters and Tig Norato donning a monk’s costume. Check it out below.
Bridgers is gearing up to visit Australia next month to support The National on the Australian leg of their I Am Easy To Find world tour. She’s also spent the last 18 months releasing a bunch of critically acclaimed projects, including the boygenius collaboration with Lucy Daccus and Julien Baker and her Better Oblivion Community Center duo with Connor Oberset. Surely this means we’re copping a new solo record soon…
Listen to ‘Garden Song’ here, and make sure you reacquaint yourself with The National’s tour dates.
