The new album, which was produced by Pearl Jam in collaboration with Josh Evans, will be released via Universal Music on Friday March 27, and marks the band’s first release since 2013’s Lightning Bolt. The band are also expected to share the first single from the project, ‘Dance of the Clairvoyants’, sometime within the next few weeks.
In a statement accompanying todays news, guitarist Mike McCready lamented the creation of Gigaton, saying that “Making this record was a long journey. It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times.”
Although there’s not too much more to be said about the new release at this stage, Pearl Jam have shared the album artwork for Gigaton, a photo taken by Canadian filmmaker and marine biologist Paul Nicklen of a gushing ice cap in Norway. Check it out below.
