Ocean Alley have announced a new album

Set for release independently on Friday June 19, Lonely Diamond saw the Northern Beaches six-piece regroup to the Grove Studios on the NSW Central Coast to record the album, drawing upon old school funk, ’70s radio rock and western sounds for inspiration. The album will also feature previously released singles such as ‘Tombstone’, ‘Infinity’ and ‘Stained Glass’.

While the band have stuck true to their successful songwriting formula on most tracks, Lonely Diamond is also set to see Ocean Alley at their most musically indulgent, adding new instruments to their sound and exploring the freedoms of studio production. Ocean Alley guitarist Mitch Galbraith elaborated on the band’s sonic direction in a statement released today, saying that “it’s pushing forward into the unknown… taking a journey to a different place or a different time that seems familiar or that you’ve been before and all the emotions and feels that come with that.”

The Sydney band have also shared a new single from the album, the Spaghetti Western-influenced ‘Hot Chicken’, which premiered last night on Triple J’s Good Nights. Listen to the new track below. The band have also rescheduled their tour dates for February next year – check them out here
