Spanning ten tracks, Mordechai will act as the second studio release from the instrumental darlings in 2020, with the band teaming up with fellow Lone Star statesman Leon Bridges for the Texas Sun EP back in February.
Khruangbin have also shared the album’s lead single ‘Time (You and I)’, with bassist Laura Lee assuming vocal duties for the ’70s funk-soul inspired cut. It marks a more upbeat direction for the trio, with the band implementing elements of disco breaks and a strung-out instrumental boogie to excellent effect. If this is anything to go by, Mordechai might even be Khruangbin’s most fun release yet – we’re hyped.
Khruangbin were initially locked in to support Tame Impala on ther massive arena tour of Australia this month; however, they unfortunately aren’t able to perform at the rescheduled shows later this December. Fingers crossed we’ll get to see more of them some time when we’re in the all clear: watch this space.
Mordechai is out on June 26 via Dead Oceans. Find out more about Laura Lee’s bass in our Show & Tell feature.
