Set to begin with the turn of a wash cycle selection wheel and conclude with an end-of-cycle noise, the 38 minute album will emulate the progression of a full load of washing. From sampling the machine’s natural sounds to creating their own by tapping it’s side, Matmos have created a life for the household appliance.
Throughout the album, listeners will be presented with a style of music similar to Musique Concrete and Minimal Techno. It’s fair to say while the concept is unexpected; it will definitely cause a stir between those who are looking for something out of the ordinary.
Surprisingly, this record is not particularly the strangest thing that Matmos has ever dropped. A Chance To Cut Is A Chance To Cure (2001) primarily featured the snips, saws and squishes of various real-life medical procedures, whereas, The Marriage Of True Minds (2013) saw the artists try to telepathically comminute their ideas for the album in it’s lead up.
