Scheduled for release on Tuesday October 9 – commemorating what would have been Lennon’s 78th birthday – John Lennon: Imagine: The Ultimate Collection will offer fans the chance to own one of the music legend’s most famous musical outputs as a six-disc, 140-track set.
The collection was overseen by Yoko Ono and features surround sound mixes, raw mixes, and a four-speaker mix to capture the quadraphonic sound made popular throughout the 1970s. Demo versions and outtakes will also be included in the reissue, giving an extended insight into the process behind the timeless album.
Imagine was the second studio album released by Lennon following the split of The Beatles, and remains his most recognisable solo work. The title track continues to receive praise and see widespread usage for its simple message of peace – a stark contrast to Lennon’s scathing dig at Paul McCartney elsewhere on the album with ‘How Do You Sleep?’
The release is set to complement Lennon and Ono’s film of the same name reappearing in theatres next month.
Pre-orders of the Imagine reissues are available now.
